Terms and Conditions

By participating in the HKT Smart Living Awards 2019, the entrant agrees to be bound by the Privacy Statement of HKT and the following Terms and Conditions:

Selection of Winners

The Panel Judges shall make decision at their sole discretion in accordance with the selection criteria set by Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited ("HKT"). The decision of the Panel Judges shall be final.

Entrant Disqualification

Entries must be original designs. HKT has the sole discretion to disqualify any design work for the plagiarism, breach of any laws or regulations in Hong Kong, violation of submission requirements or submission of any false or invalid information by you.

If entrants withdraw from HKT Smart Living Awards 2019 (the "Awards") for any reasons, or fail to complete and comply with the rules of the Awards, entrants will be deemed to have forfeited his/her eligibility to join the Awards.

Cancellation

HKT reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Awards and/or amend or alter these Terms and Conditions without further notice. Entrants are not entitled to any compensation claim based on the cancellation, modification or suspension of the Awards.

In case entries are not deemed to meet the required standard, HKT reserves the right to withhold the awards in any categories.

Intellectual Property Rights

By entering the Awards, you agree to grant HKT a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, sub-licensable, royalty-free and worldwide license to use, publish or display your entries. You also agree that HKT will publish the name of the winning designers and the associated designer companies alongside with the winning projects.

Indemnity

You agree to release, discharge, and hold HKT and/or its affiliates harmless from any claims, losses, damages, expenses and liabilities (including but not limited to copyright infringement) arising out of or in connection with your participation in the Awards.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, HKT and/or its affiliates shall not in any way be liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss or damages which the entrant or other relevant parties relating to the entrant incur or suffer in connection with the participation of the entrant in the Awards, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or any other legal theory, and whether or not HKT and/or any of its affiliates is aware of or has been advised of the possibility of such damage or loss beforehand.

Third Party Rights

Save for HKT’s affiliates, no other party who is not a party under these Terms and Conditions has any right under the Contract (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap 623 of the Laws of Hong Kong) to enforce or benefit under these Terms and Conditions.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

Languages

In the event of any inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of these Terms and Conditions, the English version will prevail.

Q1.Can I submit a residential project showing only the design concept?
No. You MUST submit a real-life and original design project completed in the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. You also need to provide photographs of the design project shot onsite. Renderings would not be accepted.
Q2.Can I submit a video to enhance the visual effect?
Yes. You can submit a video that does not exceed 2 minutes in length and it can be in any format. Please upload the video to YouTube and write the link on the Online Application Form.
Q3.Can I submit more than one residential design project?
No. Each designer can submit only one design project. We allow up to three unique submissions from three different interior designers.
Q4.Will you accept a team submission?
No. The Professional category accepts only individual submissions. If your design project is the product of a team’s work, the chief designer should submit the design project in his/her name.
Q5.Can I submit my residential design project in the name of my company, rather than enter as an individual designer?
No. The Professional category requires design projects to be submitted in an individual’s name.
Q6.Will you charge me a submission fee?
No submission fee required.
Q7.Is the Awards open to international submissions?
Yes. Design projects entered can be completed in Hong Kong or overseas (including Macau and mainland China). However, the Awards scheme is open only to designers based in Hong Kong/ who are Hong Kong identity card holders.
Q8.Can I submit a residential design project that has been published and/or won in another competition?
Yes, but you need to obtain the consent of the organizers and clients involved. You should also grant a non-exclusive, perpetual, sub-licensable and royalty-free license entitling HKT to use, display or publish your design project. Please note that winning designs in previous HKT Smart Living Awards will not be accepted.
Q9.How will I be informed of the result?
Winning designers will be contacted by phone and email during July 2019. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact us.
Q10.How will my winning project be seen?
The winning project will be presented at the HKT Smart Living Awards 2019 Presentation Ceremony in September 2019. It will also be published on HKT Smart Living’s webpage, as well as on Facebook and other promotional media.
Q11.Can I publish my winning design project on my own webpage?
Yes. You can publish your winning design on your webpage.
Q12.Can I edit my profile or design after submission?
Yes. You can contact us by email (SLAwards@smartliving.hkt.com) or call 2883 3894/ 2888 6022 to submit supplementary information.
Q13.Can I submit my residential design project by means other than this website?
No. You MUST submit by uploading your design project on this website.
Q14.Can I submit a design project for a hotel room or serviced apartment?
No. We only accept design projects of a residential nature. Commercial design projects will not be accepted.

Q1.Can I submit a real-life residential design?
No. You MUST provide original design materials. You are required to submit a Design Proposal in PDF format, incorporating a design summary, graphs (2D floor plan/section and 3D isometric view/perspective), design descriptions and anything that enhances the visual effect.
Q2.Can I submit hand-drawn graphs?
Yes. You can submit hand-drawn graphs of 2D floor plan/ section and 3D isometric view/ perspective.
Q3.Can I submit a video to enhance the visual effect?
Yes. You can submit a video that does not exceed 2 minutes in length and it can be in any format. Please upload the video to YouTube and write the link on the Online Application Form.
Q4.Can I submit more than one design?
No. Each participating unit can submit only one design, while each student can participate in only one participating unit.
Q5.Will you accept a team submission?
Yes. The Student category accepts both individual and team submissions. Each team can comprise a maximum of four students, while team members can come from different institutions, majors or courses.
Q6.I am not a design student, so can I enter the Awards?
Yes. You can enter as long as you are enrolled in a full-time or part-time program registered in Hong Kong, regardless of your course.
Q7.I graduated a year ago, so can I enter the awards?
Yes. The Student category accepts graduates from 2017 and 2018.
Q8.Will you charge me a submission fee?
No submission fee required.
Q9.Is the Awards open to international submissions?
No. It is open only to students enrolled in full-time or part-time programs registered in Hong Kong.
Q10.Can I submit a design that has been published and/or won in another competition?
Yes, but you need to obtain consent from the organizers involved before submission. You also need to grant a non-exclusive, perpetual, sub-licensable and royalty-free license entitling HKT to use, display or publish your design project.
Q11.How will I be informed if I am selected as a finalist?
Finalists will be contacted by phone and email in May 2019, and are required to attend an Elevator Pitch (Design Presentation) in June 2019 to present their designs to the judging panel.
Q12.How will I be informed of the result?

Q13.How will my winning design be seen?
