About the Awards

Kowloon Development Company has joined forces with HKT Smart Living for the first time ever to launch the “Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards”, which will be judged by a panel drawn from the Hong Kong Interior Design Association. Among other attributes, Manor Hill features a 3.5-meter super-high floor-to-floor height² and has introduced the concept of vertical space¹. Interior designers are therefore invited to submit entries that take advantage of the above-mentioned vertical space¹ and apply today’s technologies to designing dream smart homes for Manor Hill residents.

Entry Categories

Hong Kong’s interior designers are invited to submit original projects as “Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards” entries based on the creative, innovative and imaginative application of smart technologies.

Judging Criteria

The top-10 design projects for the "Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards" will be judged according to the following criteria:

Vertical Space¹ Design Concept

Creativity
Entrant’s demonstration of innovation and uniqueness

Visual & vertical space¹ design
Combination of visual art and vertical space¹ design to provide a spacious living environment

Smart Living Concept

Application of technologies
Incorporation of innovative technologies and intelligent elements in the vertical space¹ design of a home

Functionality
Appropriate use of living space and 3.5-meter super-high floor-to-floor height² to meet the needs of a household and create a comfortable and convenient living environment

The "Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards" champion will be chosen by the judging panel and a public vote.

Requirements

Any interior designer aged 18 or older is eligible to enter the Awards. Each interior designer can submit only ONE design project.
Each interior designer entrant should submit an original design based on one layout from three specific floor plans of Manor Hill.

Entries must be based on the Manor Hill floor plan with 3.5-meter super-high floor-to-floor height² and incorporate both vertical space¹ design and smart living concepts to create a comfortable and quality living space for Manor Hill residents.
Entrants required to upload the following materials to Google Drive and submit the link to our online application platform:

Design summary
2D graphics of floor plan/section
3D graphics of isometric view/perspective
NOTE:
a. The graphics should show the use and matching of furniture, materials and lighting.
b. Maximum of 10 x 2D and 3D graphics in JPG or PNG format, plus captions. Size of each photo limited to 4MB. Lower pixel limit is 2,000 (W) x 2,000(H), while upper limit is 4,000(W) x 4,000(H).
A passage to describe and explain interior design and smart living concepts. Submissions will be accepted in Chinese (400-word limit) or English (600-word limit).

Entries must constitute an original design, be unpublished and not entered for any other awards of a similar nature.
Entrants are required to submit their design projects on or before February 20, 2022. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Terms & Conditions

By participating in the “Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards”, entrants agree to be bound by HKT’s Privacy Statement and the following Terms & Conditions:

Eligibility

Any interior designer aged 18 or older is eligible to enter the Awards.

Any employee in relation to this awards and his or her family member are not eligible to participate in this awards.

Selection of winners

The Judging panel shall make decisions at their sole discretion in accordance with the selection criteria set by Kowloon Development Company and Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited (“Organizers”). Decisions made by the Judging panel shall be final.

Disqualification of entrants

Each entry must constitute an original design. The Organizers have the sole discretion to disqualify any design work in the event of plagiarism, breach of any laws or regulations in Hong Kong, violation of submission requirements or submission of any false or invalid information by the entrant.

If entrants withdraw from the “Manor Hill Vertical Space¹ Design Awards” (the “Awards”) for any reason, or fail to comply with the rules of the Awards, an entrant will be deemed to have forfeited his/her eligibility to take part in the Awards.

Entries must not contain obscene, indecent, violent, pornographic or political content. The Organizers reserve the right to disqualify design work without giving notice.

Cancellation

The Organizers reserve the right to cancel or suspend the Awards and/or amend or alter these Terms & Conditions without notice. Entrants are not entitled to any compensation based on cancellation, modification or suspension of the Awards.

In the event entries are deemed not to meet the required standard, the Organizers reserve the right to cancel, postpone or alter the Awards.

Intellectual property rights

By entering the Awards, you agree to grant the Organizers a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, sub-licensable, royalty-free and worldwide license to use, publish or display your entry. You also agree that the Organizers shall publish the names of the winning designers and associated designer companies alongside winning design projects.

Indemnity

You agree to release, discharge and indemnify the Organizers and/or its affiliates from any responsibility in terms of claims, losses, damages, expenses and liability (including but not limited to copyright infringement) arising from, or in connection with, your participation in the Awards.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Organizers and/or its affiliates shall not in any way be held liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss or damage incurred or suffered by the entrant, or other parties associated with the entrant, in connection with the entrant’s participation in the Awards, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or other legal theory, and whether or not Organizers and/or any of its affiliates were aware of, or had been advised of, the possibility of such damage or loss beforehand.

Third-party rights

Except for Organizer affiliates, no other party, which is not a party under these Terms & Conditions, has any rights under the Contract (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap 623 of the Laws of Hong Kong) to enforce or benefit under these Terms & Conditions.

Governing laws

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

If the content of an entry and/or opinions or messages expressed therein are in conflict with the laws of Hong Kong, the entrant concerned shall bear total responsibility. The Organizers shall not accept any responsibility.

Language

In the event of any inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of these Terms & Conditions, the English shall prevail.

1. “Vertical space” only refers to the imagination of using the unit with combination of furniture. Please note that the removal or alteration of or addition of any internal partition or door of the residential property, or the renovation, use or alteration etc. of the residential property may be subject to the applicable laws, regulations and deed of mutual covenant, or may require the consent or approval by the relevant Government department or manager of the Development. Prospective purchasers are advised to consult the relevant professionals regarding the removal or alteration or addition of any internal partition/door, and the intended method of renovation, use or alteration of the property. The vendor does not make any offer, representation, warranty or undertaking to the purchasers.

2. The floor-to-floor height refers to the height between the top surface of the structural slab of a floor and the top surface of the structural slab of its immediate upper floor. The floor-to-floor height mentioned may not be applicable to all residential properties, and may not be applicable to all parts of a residential property. Please refer to the sales brochure for details.
